LCL (Less than Container Load) is a consolidation service where your cargo shares a container with other shippers' goods. You pay only for the cubic meters (CBM) you use. LCL is the right choice when your shipment is under 15 CBM, when you are introducing new products to Brésil, when you have mixed SKUs, or when you cannot fill a full container. Above 15 CBM, FCL typically becomes more cost-effective.

Ocean LCL from États-Unis to Brésil takes 16-26 jours total. Miami to Santos: 16-19 jours (fastest route). New York to Santos: 20-24 jours. Houston to Paranagua: 22-26 jours. This includes CFS processing at origin (2-3 jours), consolidation and vessel transit, and deconsolidation at destination (2-3 jours). Door-to-door delivery adds 2-4 additional jours.

LCL freight is priced per CBM (cubic meter) or per metric ton — whichever yields the higher charge (W/M). The standard formula: 1 CBM = 1 freight ton. In addition to the per-CBM ocean rate, LCL has CFS handling charges at origin and destination, documentation fees, Brazilian customs clearance, SISCOMEX processing, and any port charges.

Standard documents: commercial invoice (English or Portuguese), packing list, bill of lading (HBL), certificate of origin. Additional requirements: Brazilian DI (import declaration), SISCOMEX registration number (for Brazilian importer), phytosanitary certificate (for food/agricultural products), and any product-specific certifications required by Brazilian authorities.

Yes. LCL allows consolidation of cargo destined for multiple Brazilian importers. Each importer will have their own HBL and DI (import declaration). We coordinate with your Brazilian distributors or customers to ensure each party receives their cargo at the destination CFS in Brésil with proper documentation.

If the consolidation container is selected for inspection, all cargo in that container is affected — including cargo belonging to other shippers. Standard inspection may cause 1-2 jours delay. Intensive examination may cause 5-10 jours delay and incur handling charges that are split among all shippers in the box. This is an inherent risk of LCL compared to FCL.

The États-Unis is not a MERCOSUR member, so US goods do not receive MERCOSUR preferential tariffs automatically. However, the États-Unis-Brésil bilateral trade relationship is strong, and certain sectors have lower rates. We analyze your HS codes to identify any available duty reductions and ensure proper classification to minimize import tariffs.

General tariff rates for US goods to Brésil average 12-18% depending on product classification. Electronics and machinery: 12-16%. Chemicals and plastics: 14-18%. Consumer goods: 15-20%. ICMS (state tax): 7-18% applies on top of tariffs.
